Abstract. We construct a bi-Lipschitz mapping stretching a given measurable subset of the plane with small Lebesgue measure by some chosen factor close to 1 and control, at the same time, its Lipschitz constant uniformly. We then apply our result to a model problem in nonlinear elasticity. This is a joint work with J. Fischer.
